Cary Hudson and the Piney Woods Players w/ special guests “Sugarcane Jane”

Cary has played guitar for Bobby Rush, RL Burnside, Big Jack Johnson, Shannon MacNally, Dayna Kurtz and many others in his close to thirty years on the road. He was chosen as one of the Top Ten Alternative Country Guitar Players by Gibson magazine, and his songs have appeared in TV shows and movies including the George Clooney film “Up in the Air”. He recently released his sixth solo album,Town and Country (mixed by Multi-Grammy winner Trina Shoemaker). Blue Mountain’s tune “Mountain Girl” to be on SundanceTV series Rectify, episode #304. Cary’s sincerely trying to be a better person, and hopes to someday whistle like Professor Longhair.

Sugarcane Jane, the Alabama Gulf Coast-based husband and wife duo has amassed an extremely loyal following. Anthony and Savana Lee Crawford purvey what they proudly call “Organic Music at its Finest.” Rich, homegrown, and natural, their brand of Americana draws from a deep well of roots influences, interwoven with inflections of gospel, country, jazz, and rock. Listeners can expect mostly acoustic sounds, and some of the freshest-sounding vocal harmonies they will ever hear. Both virtuosos in their own right, Anthony is a songwriter who plays acoustic guitar, fiddle, and a bass drum (which he plays while strumming his six-string) and Savana Lee deftly dances between rhythm guitar and snare drum.

Multi-instrumentalist Anthony Crawford is known in most circles as a sideman to the stars. Over the course of the last 25 years, he has performed with Neil Young, Sonny James, Steve Winwood, Dwight Yoakam, Vince Gill, Rosanne Cash, and Rodney Crowell, and has written / co-written songs recorded by Steve Winwood, Dwight Yoakam, Kenny Rogers, Pegi Young, Lee Greenwood, and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, to name a few. Yet, even with his history of working with heavyweights, Crawford feels Sugarcane Jane – his musical venture with multi-instrumentalist wife Savana Lee Crawford, is his life’s calling.

The Quickening with special guest

Matt Owen and the Ecclectic Tuba

9pm BooM BooM RooM

Saturated in soul and marinated in the love of music comes The Quickening out of New Orleans, LA. After parting ways with the Flow Tribe in 2012, guitarist and song writer Blake Quick has assembled a panel of musicians that have enhanced the meaning of “feel good music.” Prepare to be blown away by the luscious vocal pairings between the stunning Rachel “Mama Ray” Murray and Quick. The two have a chemistry that boils with excitement and defies the term “frontman” into one cohesive partnership. The rhythm section, coupled by Al Small on bass and Jeff Jani on drums, seem to have a marriage to the groove that Quick lays down. The secret weapon of the band is the fluid steel guitar playing by the one and only Dave Easley; whose instrument drives the band through fearless improvisations. The rest of the band is a revolving door of sorts; always welcoming New Orleans’ finest to the band by including their horns and various woodwind and string instruments. The band has already made a huge impact in the New Orleans community and are eager to spread the word like butter across the US.
(Quick·en·ing): 1: to make alive; 2: to come to life; especially: to enter into a phase of active growth and development ; 3: to shine more brightly

The Eclectic Tuba takes the audience on a joy ride through the cosmos with trippy lights, ripping synthesizers, funky tuba loops, latin percussive grooves, and soaring saxophone solos. 2012 was an exciting inaugural year on Earth for The Eclectic Tuba – In May, the band came in 3rd place in the SonicBids: Road To Roo competition in which fans could vote for their favorite band to play the Manchester, TN festival. The tuba in the competition caught the eye of a few promoters, and the group was able to do an extensive East Coast tour of the US, traveling to Manhattan and back multiple times during the summer. After the tour, The Eclectic Tuba was given multiple opportunities to open for fantastic acts including Maps and Atlases, Fishbone, New Fumes, Linear Downfall, and HOTT MT. Aside from the Eclectic Tuba, Matt performed with Amanda Palmer and The Grand Theft Orchestra in Atlanta, New Orleans, and Carborro, NC on the “Theater is Evil” tour, and The Polyphonic Spree on their “Holiday Dream” show in Dallas, Tx. The Eclectic Tuba brings a show that is sure to captivate the minds of audiences everywhere while taking them on a quick trip to space!!!

Unknown Hinson is a hard-driving, party-liquor-loving, possibly vampiric Country & Western troubadour in an ill-fitting rodeo suit with a penchant for raising hell and firing his guns into the air at shows. The alter ego of North Carolina’s Stuart Daniel Baker, a former music teacher and studio musician who crafted the character in the early ’90s as part of a Charlotte-area public-access show, Hinson is best known as the voice of Early Cuyler on Adult Swim’s Squidbillies.
